Got My Mind Set on You ist ein Lied, das von Rudy Clark geschrieben wurde. Die erste Veröffentlichung stammt von James Ray und erschien im Jahr 1962. George Harrison veröffentlichte 1987 eine Coverversion, die von ihm in Kooperation mit Jeff Lynne produziert wurde. Diese Fassung erschien als Vorabsingleauskopplung für Harrisons Album Cloud Nine im Oktober 1987. Auf der B-Seite befand sich die Harrison-Komposition Lay His Head.

Geschichte

Die Veröffentlichung fand am 23. Oktober 1987 statt, in den USA, Kanada, Irland, Australien und Belgien wurde das Stück ein Nummer-eins-Hit. Got My Mind Set on You war der dritte und letzte Nummer-eins-Hit von Harrison in den Vereinigten Staaten.

Der Song erschien auch auf den Kompilationen Best of Dark Horse 1976–1989 und Let It Roll: Songs by George Harrison. Eine Liveversion erschien auf dem Album Live in Japan.

An der Aufnahme waren neben George Harrison (Gesang und Gitarren) noch Jeff Lynne (E-Bass und Keyboards), Jim Keltner (Schlagzeug), Jim Horn (Saxophon) und Ray Cooper (Perkussion) beteiligt.[2]

Musikvideo

Nachdem Harrison das erste Musikvideo nicht gefiel, drehte man unter Regie von Gary Weis ein weiteres Video. In diesem zweiten Clip sitzt Harrison in einem Sessel in einem Geisterhaus, dessen Möbel sich bewegen, und spielt Gitarre. Zwischendurch springt er plötzlich auf und führt eine akrobatische Tanzeinlage durch, die sichtlich mit einem Double gedreht wurde.
