The Barry Sisters

The Barry Sisters waren ein US-amerikanische Vokalduo, das jiddische Lieder in popmusikalischen, manchmal verjazzten Versionen darbot.

begannen in den 1940er Jahren als Bagelman Sisters in amerikanischen Radioshows aufzutreten und tourten als Barry Sisters durch die ganze Welt, ganz ungewöhnlich, den Ostblock eingeschlossen. Sie traten auch mit Moishe Oysher und mit Barbra Streisand auf. 1963 kamen sie nach Deutschland zu Fernsehauftritten und kamen so in die hiesigen Schlagerparaden.

Mundartlich vorgetragener Pop-Jazz wurde später durch Marianne Mendt, Jazz Gitti oder Joy Fleming im deutschen Sprachraum verbreitet.
