Nepal Airlines (NAC) (früher Royal Nepal Airlines) ist eine nepalesische Fluggesellschaft mit Sitz in Kathmandu. Sie führt nationale und internationale Flüge von ihrem Heimatflughafen Kathmandu durch und ist die größte des Landes.

Geschichte

Die Fluggesellschaft wurde im Juli 1958 als Royal Nepal Airlines gegründet und nahm ihren Flugdienst mit Hilfe einer Douglas DC-3 auf. Einige Jahre später wurde mit der Fokker F-27 die Flotte erstmals durch ein Turbopropmodell modernisiert, 1972 kamen erste Jets hinzu, unter anderem die Boeing 727. Nach den politischen Entwicklungen 2006, bei denen König Gyanendra seine Macht verlor, wurden in den Bezeichnungen bzw. Namen von Regierung, Militär, Polizei und auch bei der RNAC das Wort Royal entfernt. Die Airline heißt heute Nepal Airlines.

Nepal Airlines bedient 30 nationale und 10 internationale Strecken, z. B. Bangkok, Delhi, Dubai, Hongkong, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai, Osaka, Singapur und Shanghai.

Auf der Dubai Airshow 2009 gab Nepal Airlines eine Kaufabsichtserklärung für einen Airbus A330-200 und einen Airbus A320 ab.
