Joseph Luke Scarpa (* 4. Oktober 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), besser bekannt unter seinem Ringamen Chief Jay Strongbow, ist ein ehemaliger US-amerikanischer Wrestler. Einer seiner größten Erfolge war der dreifache Erhalt der WWWF Tag Team Championship.

Karriere

Anfänge

Scarpa debütierte 1947 als Joe Scarpa. Fortan trat er bei verschiedenen Promotions auf. Scarpa trat beispielsweise in verschiedenen Territorien der National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) auf. Seinen ersten Titel, die NWA Gulf Coast Heavyweight Championship, gewann Scarpa am 3. Mai 1960.

World Wide Wrestling Federation / World Wrestling Federation

Scarpa kam 1970, als Chief Jay Strongbow, in die damalige World Wide Wrestling Federation (heute WWE). Am 22. Mai 1972 gewann Scarpa seinen ersten Titel in der WWWF, die WWWF Tag Team Championship mit Sonny King. Den Titel gaben sie an Mr. Fuji und Prof. Toru Tanaka ab. Bei der WWWF fehdete Scarpa mehrere Male gegen Mr. Fuji. 1976 gewann Scarpa die WWWF Tag Team Championship ein weiteres Mal, diesmal mit Billy White Wolf. 1979 fehdete Scarpa gegen Greg Valentine.

1982 bildete Scarpa mit seinem (laut Storyline) Neffen, Jules Strongbow, ein Tag Team. Mit diesem gewann Scarpa 1982 die WWF Tag Team Championship weitere zwei Male.

1985 beendete Scarpa seine Karriere. 1986 und 1987 bestritt er noch einige Matches in der WWF. 1989 trat er in der American Wrestling Association auf. 1994 wurde Scarpa in die WWE Hall of Fame aufgenommen.
