Die International Sociological Association (ISA) ist eine Gesellschaft, deren Aufgabe es ist, wissenschaftliche Zwecke im Feld der Soziologie und der Sozialwissenschaften zu verfolgen. Sie wurde 1949 auf Anregung der UNESCO gegründet und ihre Mitglieder kommen gegenwärtig aus 109 Ländern.
Ihr Aufgabe ist es, "to represent sociologists everywhere, regardless of their school of thought, scientific approaches or ideological opinion, and to advance sociological knowledge throughout the world". Sie gibt die Fachzeitschrift International Sociology (2009 im 24. Jahrgang) heraus.
Die ISA ist Mitglied des International Social Science Council mit dem Status einer NGO (Non-Governmental Organization), ist der UNESCO assoziiert und hat Beraterstatus beim Economic and Social Council der Vereinten Nationen.
Präsident (von 2006 bis 2010) ist der französische Soziologe Michel Wieviorka, Vize-Präsident der deutsche Soziologe Hans Joas (Universität Erfurt).
Die ISA veranstaltet alle vier Jahre einen soziologischen Weltkongress, der nächste findet von 11. bis 17. Juli 2010 unter dem Motto Soziologie in Bewegung in Göteborg statt.
