Group Areas Act

Der Group Areas Act, Act No. 41 / 1950 (deutsch etwa: Gruppen-Gebiete-Gesetz) war ein 1950 in Kraft getretenes Gesetz in Südafrika im Rahmen der Apartheidspolitik.

Es wurde 1950 vom „weißen“ Parlament verabschiedet und wies den verschiedenen ethnischen Gruppen (Weiße, Schwarze, Asiaten und Mischlinge) eigene Wohngebiete zu. So entstand in jeder Stadt die räumliche Segregation der ethnischen Gruppen.

Das Gesetz wurde im Jahre 1957 novelliert und nannte sich Native Urban Areas Amendment Act No 77.
Mit dem Ende der Apartheid 1990–1994 wurde 1991 auch der Group Areas Act aufgehoben.
