Sir Ector

Sir Ector (manchmal Hector, Antor oder Bedwere) ist eine Sagenfigur der mittelalterlichen Artusromane. Er ist der Vater von Sir Kay und der Pflegevater von König Artus.

Ector erscheint in den Werken von Robert de Boron und Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur. In diesen Versionen nimmt Merlin Artus von seinem biologischen Eltern König Uther Pendragon und Igraine weg und übergibt ihn zum Heranziehen an Sir Ector. Merlin deckt die wahre Identität des Jungen nicht auf, Sir Ector nimmt ihn trotzdem an und zieht ihn mit seinem richtigen Sohn Kay auf.

In den walisischen Geschichten wird der Vater von Sir Kay stattdessen Cynyr oder Ceinfarfog genannt.
