Break My Stride ist ein Lied von Matthew Wilder aus dem Jahr 1983, das von Matthew Wilder und Greg Prestopino geschrieben wurde.

Geschichte und Veröffentlichung

Auf seinem Album I Don't Speak the Language war das Lied der einzige Erfolg, das One-Hit-Wonder belegte Platz 5 der Billboard Hot 100 Charts und Platz 4 der UK Top 40 im Jahr 1984.

Auch wenn Break My Stride Wilders einziger Erfolg war, schaffte es seine nachfolgende Single The Kid's American aus dem Album Bouncing Of The Wall auf Platz 28 in den USA.

Die Kooperation Wilders und Prestopinos erschien in mehreren Versionen und stellte eine Basis für Hip-Hop-Tracks dar. Im Jahr 1997 sampelte Puff Daddys das Lied für seine Single Can't Nobody Hold Me Down.

In Großbritannien hörte man das Lied in einer Werbung der Firma Alpro.
