Der Waiau River in Southland auf der Südinsel Neuseelands ist der größte dreier gleichnamiger Flüsse in Neuseeland. Er ist der Abfluss des Lake Te Anau, von dem er 10 km nach Süden in den Lake Manapouri fließt, danach 70 km nach Süden, bevor er 8 km südlich von Tuatapere in die Foveaux Strait mündet. Er nimmt auch Wasser des Lake Monowai auf.

Der Fluss diente als Kulisse für den Fluss Anduin am Ende des Filmes "Der Herr der Ringe: Die Gefährten" bei den Szenen, in denen die Uruk-hai die Gefährten ein Flussufer entlangjagen.
