Baron of Dunsany ist ein erblicher irischer Adelstitel in der Peerage of Ireland, der von der Familie Plunkett geführt wird.

Stammsitz der Familie ist Dunsany Castle im County Meath in der Republik Irland. Es handelt sich dabei um das vermutlich am längsten ununterbrochen bewohnte Gebäude in Irland.

Verleihung

Die Baronie ist einer der ältesten noch bestehenden Titel in der Peerage of Ireland. Die Verleihung erfolgte an Sir Christopher Plunkett, den zweiten Sohn von Christopher Plunkett, 1. Baron Killeen. Das genaue Jahr der Verleihung ist nicht bekannt. Vermutlich wurde der Titel 1462 geschaffen, kurz vor dem Tode des ersten Barons.

Der elfte Baron verlor seinen Titel, nachdem er sich während der Glorious Revolution auf die Seite von König Jakob II. gestellt hatte, wurde aber nach dem Vertrag von Limerick wieder in seine Rechte und Besitztümer eingesetzt. Erst der dreizehnte Baron leitete allerdings die notwendigen Verfahrensschritte ein, um den Sitz im irischen Oberhaus wieder einnehmen zu können.
