Der Torstein (2.948 m ü. A.) ist der zweithöchste Berg im Dachsteingebirge und liegt an der Grenze zwischen Steiermark, Salzburg und Oberösterreich. Seine fast 1000 m hohe Südwand ist die mächtigste Wand im gesamten Massiv. Weiter östlich, getrennt durch die Untere Windlucke, erheben sich der Mitterspitz und der Hohe Dachstein. Zusammen mit diesen bildet er den markanten "Dreizack" der Dachstein-Südwände.
