Das Unternehmen Armadillo Aerospace ist eine kleine Gruppe privater Investoren, deren Ziel es unter anderem ist, private, bemannte (suborbitale) Raumflüge zu realisieren.

Das Projekt wird von John Carmack geführt, einem bekannten Computerspieleentwickler. Dieser investierte im Juli 2004 1,5 Mio. US-Dollar in das Projekt. Alle ursprünglichen Mitglieder gingen beruflich einer anderen Beschäftigung nach und nahmen am Armadillo-Projekt auf freiwilliger Basis teil. Inzwischen werden allerdings zahlreiche Angestellte regulär beschäftigt.[1]

Das Projekt hatte zum Ziel den Ansari X-Prize zu gewinnen.
