Mike McCready (* 5. April 1966 in Pensacola, Florida, USA) ist ein US-amerikanischer Musiker und der Leadgitarrist der Band Pearl Jam.

Seit dem Tribute-Album für Andy Wood, Temple of the Dog, musiziert er mit Gitarrist Stone Gossard und Bassist Jeff Ament. Aus diesem Projekt entstand die Gruppe Pearl Jam. McCready nahm auch am Projekt Mad Season teil.

Frühe Jahre

Obwohl McCready in Pensacola, Florida, geboren wurde, siedelte seine Familie kurz nach seiner Geburt nach Seattle um. Seine Eltern hörten, als er noch ein Kind war, Hendrix und Santana, seine Freunde hingegen KISS und Aerosmith. Man kann also sagen, dass er bereits früh mit Musik in Berührung kam. Im Alter von elf Jahren bekam er seine erste Gitarre und kurz darauf auch Unterricht.

Bereits in seiner Schulzeit gründete er seine erste Band, Warrior, welche bald in Shadow umbenannt wurde.

Mike McCready leidet seit seiner Jugend an Morbus Crohn (Crohn Disease) und unterstützt einige Projekte, die zur Erforschung der Krankheit beitragen.
