Max Gallo (* 7. Januar 1932 in Nizza, Frankreich) ist ein französischer Schriftsteller, Historiker und Politiker.

Der Sohn italienischer Einwanderer war zu Beginn seiner Karriere als Journalist tätig. Während dieser Zeit war er bis 1956 Mitglied der Parti communiste français. Später unterstützte er die Parti socialiste.

Vom 23. März 1983 bis 18. Juni 1984 war er Regierungssprecher der französischen Regierung unter Premierminister Pierre Mauroy, von der Europawahl 1984 bis 1994 Abgeordneter im Europäischen Parlament.

Seit dem 31. Mai 2007 ist Gallo Mitglied der Académie française und hat den Fauteuil 24 inne. Der vormalige Inhaber dieses Sitzes war Jean-François Revel. Neben Werken zur Geschichte veröffentlichte Gallo eine Reihe von Biographien etwa über Charles de Gaulle (1998) oder Napoléon (2009) sowie eine Reihe von Romanen.

Als Autor verfasste er u.a. Biographien. So erschien 1993 auf deutsch sein Werk zu Rosa Luxemburg.
