Maternal

Maternal (von lat. maternus: mütterlich, der Mutter) ist ein Attribut, das die mütterliche Herkunft beschreibt. Der Begriff wird bei der Vererbung angewendet (bspw. maternale Ausprägung eines Gens, maternale Herkunft eines Allels).

Die väterliche Herkunft wird als paternal bezeichnet.
