Line Producer

Line Producer ist ein Beruf in der Unterhaltungsindustrie. Ein Line Producer ist Mitglied des Teams bei der Produktion eines Films oder Fernsehformats und dabei für die reibungslose Durchführung der Produktion und die Überwachung der Kosten verantwortlich.

Berufsbeschreibung

Im Gegensatz zum Producer ist er nicht finanzieller und künstlerischer Gesamtleiter einer Produktion, sondern ausschließlich für deren Durchführung verantwortlich. Da ein Line Producer fast immer vor Ort ist, arbeitet er im Gegensatz zum Filmproduzenten oder Executive Producer meist ausschließlich an einem Projekt.

Der Name leitet sich direkt aus dem amerikanischen Produktionsschema ab: Er ist für den Bereich „below the line“ zuständig, der alle nichtkünstlerischen Kosten der Produktion, also das Produktionsteam, Material, Geräte, Studio- und Postproduktionskosten etc., umfasst.

Bei vielen Fernsehshows, die in hoher Stückzahl produziert werden, leitet der Line Producer nach Einführung eines Formates die Produktion weiterer Staffeln. Schwerpunkt seiner Arbeit dabei sind die Einhaltung der laufenden Disposition und des Budgets. Damit ist er in vielen Bereichen eine Art Kreuzung aus Produktions- und Herstellungsleiter. Sein Einfluss auf die redaktionelle Arbeit beschränkt sich dagegen auf die für die Staffelabwicklung nötigen Entscheidungen.

Ausbildung

Da überwiegend organisatorische und finanzielle Fähigkeiten gefordert sind, verfügt ein Großteil der Line Producer über eine kaufmännische Ausbildung, ein wirtschaftswissenschaftliches Studium oder sie kommen direkt aus der Produktionsorganisation, d.h. sie haben mehrere Jahre als Assistant Producer, Erste Filmaufnahmeleitung oder Filmproduktionsleitung gearbeitet.
