Antebellum

Antebellum (engl.) kommt aus dem Lateinischen und bedeutet wörtlich „vor dem Krieg“. In den Vereinigten Staaten bezeichnet der Begriff die Periode vor dem Sezessionskrieg (1861–1865). In der Architektur wird Antebellum auch für den in den Südstaaten üblichen Baustil der Zeit vor dem amerikanischen Bürgerkrieg verwendet.
