Kohima ist die Hauptstadt des indischen Bundesstaates Nagaland. Sie ist Marktstadt und hat zirka 80.000 Einwohner.

Im Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde der Vormarsch der Japaner und der Indian National Army Subhash Chandra Boses in den Schlachten bei Kohima und Imphal gestoppt. Heute erinnert ein großer Kriegsfriedhof daran. Jedes Jahr im Dezember findet in der Nähe der Stadt das fünftägige Hornbill Festival statt, wo die Kultur der Nagastämme präsentiert wird und deren Tänzer auftreten.
