Das John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (gemeinhin Kennedy Center genannt) ist das nach dem 35. Präsidenten der USA John F. Kennedy benannte größte Kulturzentrum der Washington D.C.-Area.
Das Kennedy Center umfasst das über 1.100 Sitzplätze verfügende Eisenhower Theater, das 2.200 Sitzplätze enthaltende Opera House und eine Concert Hall mit 2.750 Sitzplätzen sowie ein Kino des American Film Institute, in dem berühmte alte Filme vorgeführt werden, und weitere kleinere Theater. Im Foyer befindet sich eine von Robert Berks geschaffene Büste Präsident Kennedys. In der Hall of States hängen die Fahnen der amerikanischen Bundesstaaten und in der Hall of Nations Flaggen aller Nationen der Erde. Im Dachgeschoss sind mehrere Restaurants, die nicht nur Theaterbesuchern zur Verfügung stehen. Außerhalb des Kennedy Centers gibt es gegenüber vom Haupteingang ein Steinfries - ein Geschenk der Bundesrepublik Deutschland zur Eröffnung des Kennedy Centers im Jahre 1971.
