John Villiers

John Villiers (* 1936) ist ein britischer Historiker und Mitarbeiter des British Council.

John Villiers studierte an der Universität Cambridge Geschichte und beendete sein Studium 1957 mit einem Bachelor-Abschluss. Zwischen 1958 und 1960 schlossen sich Forschungstätigkeiten in Cambridge und an der Universität Lissabon an. Von 1960 bis 1963 war Villiers Mitarbeiter des British Council in Bandung und Englischlektor an der Padjadjaran State University. 1963 promovierte Villiers in Cambridge mit einer Arbeit zur portugiesischen Sozialgeschichte. Anschließend arbeitete er am British Council in Warschau.

John Villiers verfasste Studien zu den Portugiesen im fernen Osten sowie zu indischer Kunst, Sprache und Kultur. Derzeit lebt er in Brighton.
