John Caius

John Caius (* 6. November 1510 in Norwich; † 29. Juli 1573 in London) war ein englischer Hofarzt, der das Gonville and Caius College in Cambridge mit einer Spende wiedergegründet hat.

Caius studierte bis 1533 in Cambridge, dann besuchte er Italien. Er studierte in Padua, dann besuchte er 1543 einige Regionen Italiens, Deutschland und Frankreich und kehrte nach England zurück. Von 1547 an praktizierte er als Arzt in London; er behandelte u.a. die Königin Maria I. und die Königin Elisabeth I. Im Jahre 1557 spendete er 1.834 Pfund Sterling, um die erneute Gründung von Gonville Hall zu ermöglichen. Dort unterrichtete er ab 1558.
