Die American Nazi Party (dt. Amerikanische Nazipartei) war eine US-amerikanische Neonazipartei, die am 8. März 1959 von George Lincoln Rockwell gegründet wurde. Ihr Hauptquartier war in Arlington County, Virginia.

Unter Rockwell

Die American Nazi Party wurde im März 1959 als World Union of Free Enterprise National Socialists (WUFENS), die sich vor allem für Rassentrennung und gegen Gemeineigentum und Allmende aussprach, gegründet. Im Dezember 59 wurde sie in die American Nazi Party umbenannt und der Hauptsitz nach Arlington County verlegt. Ideologisch folgte sie größtenteils der deutschen NSDAP.

Eine größere Medienaufmerksamkeit erhielt ihr Gründer und Commander (so die offizielle Bezeichnung) George Lincoln Rockwell. Bekannt wurde Rockwell vor allem durch ein umfangreiches Interview von April 1966 mit dem Playboy-Magazin.[1]

Als Parteiführer nannte Rockwell als Ziele unter anderem alle Schwarzen nach Afrika zu deportieren und alle „kommunistischen Verräter“ hinzurichten. Juden sollte der Aufenthalt gewährt bleiben (mit Ausnahme schwarzer und kommunistischer Juden), aber nur wenn sie kastriert werden und ihr Eigentum an andere weiße Amerikaner abgeben.[2] Den Holocaust leugnete er und bezeichnete ihn als kommunistische Verschwörung. Den Vietnamkrieg befürwortete er und bezeichnete Hitler als Segen. Rockwell nannte als grundsätzliches Problem, die USA seien eine Nation von „Beatniks und Friedenskriechern“ geworden. Außerdem kündigte er an, als Präsident sofort einen Nuklearschlag gegen China durchzuführen.[3]

Unter Koehl

1967 wurde Rockwell von John Patler, einem ehemaligen Parteimitglied, erschossen.

Der Vizevorsitzende der Partei, Matt Koehl, übernahm anschließend die Führung der Partei und benannte sie in National Socialist White People's Party (NSWPP; dt. Nationalsozialistische Partei des Weißen Volkes) um. Er gründete zudem den "George Lincoln Rockwell Memorial Book Store". Koehls orientierte sich an Savitri Devi und sah die Nazi Party mehr als eine neue Religion denn als eine politische Partei. Ab den 1970ern nahmen Führungsstreitigkeiten innerhalb der Partei zu und es kam zu Abspaltungen. 1983 benannte Koehl die Partei in New Order um, heute ist sie auch im rechtsextremen Lager weitgehend unbekannt.

Heute existiert eine Partei gleichen Namens mit dem Sitz in Westland, Michigan, der Parteivorsitzende ist Rocky J. Suhayda. In die Schlagzeilen geriet die Partei, als sie auf einer Landstraße in Oregon Müll aufsammelte und dafür ein Straßenschild bekam, welches auf sie hinweist.
