Istiqlal

Istiqlal bzw. Partei der Unabhängigkeit (arabisch ‏حزب الاستقلال‎, DMG ḥizb al-istiqlāl) ist eine der wichtigsten und die älteste politische Partei in Marokko.

Sie gilt als konservativ nationalistisch. Sie gehört heute zu den regierungstreuen Parteien Marokkos.

Die Istiqlal Partei wurde in den 1940er Jahren gegründet. Unter Parteiführer Allal El Fassi trat sie für die Unabhängigkeit Marokkos (1956) ein. Im Jahr 1959 spaltete sich die UNFP ab. Bei den Wahlen 2002 erhielt Istiqlal 48 der 325 Sitze und wurde zweitstärkste Partei, 2007 mit 52 Sitzen stärkste Partei unter Abbas Al-Fassi, der seither Premierminister ist.[1]
