Das IIASA (Internationales Institut für angewandte Systemanalyse) hat seinen Sitz im Blauen Hof in Laxenburg bei Wien und beschäftigt etwa 200 internationale Wissenschafter und Wirtschaftsforscher sowie eine größere Anzahl von weiteren Mitarbeitern.

Es veranstaltet Kongresse und betreibt in internationaler Abstimmung – insbesondere mit UNO und FAO – Forschung unter anderem für die Bereiche Internationale Politik und Diplomatie, Dynamische Systeme in Forschung und Wirtschaft, Umweltschutz und seine globale Strategie, Forstwirtschaft und Technik, Neue Technologien und weiterer Fachgruppen. Auch ein großer Publikationsdienst und eine international zugängliche Bibliothek ist angeschlossen.
