Home Energy Station

Home Energy Station ist der Name von Hondas zukünftigen Wärme- und Stromerzeuger, der sowohl für den häuslichen Gebrauch als auch für Brennstoffzellenfahrzeuge eingesetzt werden kann. Er ermöglicht es, Erdgas in Elektrizität und Wärme umzuwandeln, um zum Beispiel einen durchschnittlichen privaten Haushalt zu versorgen oder ein Fahrzeug (wie den Honda FCX) anzutreiben.

Für diesen Zweck wandelt das System in einer Brennstoffzelle den im Erdgas gebundenen Wasserstoff und zusätzlich zugeführten Sauerstoff in Wärme und Elektrizität um.

Darüber hinaus soll die Home Energy Station als Backup-System für die Energieversorgung als Alternative zu dieselbetriebenen Notstrom-Generatoren einsetzbar sein. Die Leistung beträgt ca. 5 Kilowatt und ist für viele Notsitutationen oder im Heimbetrieb oft ausreichend.

Derzeit wird das Produkt in der Forschungs- und Entwicklungsabteilung Honda Americas in Torrance (Kalifornien) getestet und wird frühestens 2012 auf dem Markt erscheinen.
