Holiday on Ice ist eine der bekanntesten Eis-Revuen der Welt. Gegründet wurde sie 1943 in Ohio von Morris Chalfen, im Dezember desselben Jahres wurde sie das erste Mal aufgeführt. Sie tourt jedes Jahr mit bis zu sechs Shows rund um den Globus.

Allgemeines

Jedes Jahr oder fast jedes Jahr gibt es eine oder zwei neue Shows mit einem anderen Motto. Dabei gilt grundsätzlich, dass Emotionen, Gefühle und Berührungen mittels des Eiskunstlaufens ausgedrückt werden. Dies wird meist im Paarlauf oder Synchroneiskunstlauf, aber auch im Einzellauf gezeigt. Spannende und atemberaubende Elemente, wie z. B. Hebefiguren und Sprünge sind Hauptbestandteile der Show.

Die Darsteller von Holiday on Ice sind über die ganze Erde verteilt. Deshalb werden im Team auch bis zu zehn Sprachen gesprochen. Rund 220 Darsteller (Eisläufer) und 80 Crewmitglieder sind am Ensemble in allen Shows beteiligt.

Die Musik entspricht dem Thema der Show. Der Eislauf wird der Musik angepasst in Ausdruck und Geschwindigkeit. Bekannte Stars der Show waren u.a. Nobert Schramm, Claudia Leistner, Katarina Witt, Tanja Szewczenko und Denise Biellmann. In Deutschland tourt Holiday on Ice meist mit zwei Shows durch ausgewählte Städte, wobei sich fast jedes Jahr das Thema ändert. Veranstalter ist Stage Entertainment.
