Avram Hershko

Avram Hershko (hebräisch ‏אברהם הרשקו‎; * 31. Dezember 1937 als Ferenc Herskó in Karcag, Ungarn) ist israelischer Biochemiker ungarischer Abstammung.

Er erhielt 2001 den Massry-Preis sowie 2004 den Nobelpreis für Chemie für die Entdeckung der Ubiquitin-gesteuerten Protein-Degeneration, zusammen mit Aaron Ciechanover und Irwin Rose.

Hershko verließ Ungarn 1950. Er erhielt 1969 an der Hadassah Medical School der Hebräischen Universität Jerusalem seinen Doktorgrad. Derzeit ist er Professor am Rappaport Family Institute for Research in Medical Sciences am Technion (Israel Institute of Technology) in Haifa, Israel.
