Die HELM AG ist ein deutsches Unternehmen mit Firmensitz in Hamburg. Das Unternehmen ist ein Mischkonzern, der in den Bereichen Chemie, Pharmazie, Kunststoffprodukte, Pflanzenschutz und Düngemittel vorwiegend als Händler tätig ist. Die HELM AG betreibt über 60 Niederlassungen in rund 30 Ländern in Europa, Nord- und Südamerika sowie Asien [2].

Der Kaufmann Karl Otto Helm gründete 1900 die Firma Karl O. HELM als Im- und Export-Unternehmen. 1950 übernahm Hermann Schnabel das Unternehmen und baute es, mit der Spezialisierung auf den Chemiehandel, rasch aus. Bald wurden erste Niederlassungen in Europa und Amerika eröffnet, die Mitarbeiterzahl stieg auf 300 im Jahre 1970.

1978 erfolgte die Umfirmierung in HELM AG. Bis in die 1980er Jahren verdoppelt sich die Mitarbeiterzahl und der Umsatz stieg auf 557 Mio. EUR. 1984 wurde Dieter Schnabel Vorstandsvorsitzender, er trieb den Wandel vom Handelshaus zur international operierenden Marketingorganisation weiter voran. Heute sind für die HELM AG weltweit 1324 Mitarbeiter sowie 250 Mitarbeiter in den Produktionsbeteiligungen tätig.[3] 2010 starb Hermann Schnabel.
