Grogram

Tarlatan, auch Grogram (von frz. gros grain „von grober Beschaffenheit“) ist ein altertümlicher grober Stoff aus Seide mit Mohair oder Wolle, der manchmal mit Latex versteift wird.

Der Stoff ist dünn und durchsichtig, aber fest, sehr saugfähig und fusselfrei. Er wurde für Kleider, Vor- und Umhänge, für Unterwäsche, Masken- oder Theaterkostüme sowie als Bezugsstoff, daneben auch für Tafeltücher verwendet. Darum bezeichnet man ihn auch als Wischgaze.

Der Tarlatan wurde zuerst in Frankreich auf mechanischen Webmaschinen gefertigt. Er ähnelt in seinem Aussehen dem Tüll, ist jedoch haltbarer und weniger kostspielig. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wurden aus Tarlatan auch die Unterröcke der Tutus aus Tarlatan hergestellt, da er den Faltenwurf verbesserte und die Ballettröcke nicht gewaschen werden.
