Globulen sind in der Astronomie räumlich engbegrenzte Staub- und Gaswolken, die meist in Sternentstehungsgebieten zu finden sind. Globulen erscheinen als dunkle Flecke vor dem Hintergrund eines Emissionsnebels oder vor dem Hintergrund der Sterne. Sie wurden von Bart Bok 1947 als ein Frühstadium der Sternentstehung vorgeschlagen und werden nach ihm gelegentlich auch als Bok-Globulen bezeichnet. Hochauflösende Beobachtungen zum Beispiel durch das Hubble-Weltraumteleskop von den bekannten Sternentstehungsgebieten in unserer Galaxie (wie zum Beispiel Orion- oder Adlernebel) erhärten diese Vermutung. Im Inneren einer Globule verdichten sich einzelne Bereiche immer weiter, bis sie genug Masse zur Kernfusion angesammelt haben.
