Gabriel Acacius Coussa

Gabriel Acacius Kardinal Coussa (* 3. August 1897 in Aleppo; † 29. Juli 1962) war ein Erzbischof der melkitisch-griechisch-katholischen Kirche, Experte in Kanonischem Recht und Kurienerzbischof.

Leben

Coussa wurde am 20. Dezember 1920 zum Priester geweiht. Am 3. März 1946 wurde er zum Sekretär zur Interpretation des Kanonischen Rechts bei der römischen Kurie ernannt. Coussa war Berater von Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli, der später zum Papst Johannes XXIII. ernannt wurde. 1961 ernannte man ihn zum Titularerzbischof von Hierapolis für die melkitische Kirche und Propräfekt für die Kongregation für die Ostkirchen. Ein Jahr später, 1962, wurde er Präfekt derselben Kongregation. Coussa wurde in diesem Jahr ebenso Kardinalpriester von Sant’Atanasio dei Greci.
