North East Lincolnshire entstand 1996 aus dem zwei Boroughs der nur von 1974 bis 1996 bestehenden Grafschaft Humberside. Nur zu zeremoniellen Gründen gehört das verwaltungstechnisch selbständige North East Lincolnshire zur Grafschaft Lincolnshire.
