Feb. 2011 (CET)Das Fort Lewis College ist eine staatliche Universität in Durango im Südwesten des US-Bundesstaates Colorado. An der Hochschule sind etwa 4000 Studenten eingeschrieben, davon 20% amerikanische Ureinwohner.

Geschichte

Die Hochschule entstand 1911 im Zusammenhang mit einem Vertrag, bei dem indianische Stämme im Austausch für Land von der amerikanischen Regierung die Finanzierung der Hochschule erhielten. Seit 1956 ist das Fort Lewis College in Durango ansässig.

Sport

Die Sportmannschaften des Fort Lewis College sind die Skyhawks. Die Hochschule ist Mitglied der Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
