Forest Hills gehört zu Queens, einem Stadtteil von New York. Forest Hills ist im Norden durch den Rego Park begrenzt, im Osten durch den Flushing Meadows Corona Park, und im Süden durch den Forest Park. Es liegt in der Nähe der New Yorker Flughäfen JFK International und LaGuardia.

Von 1914 bis 1977 wurden in Forest Hills die amerikanischen Meisterschaften im Tennis ausgetragen, zunächst auf Rasen, später dann auf Hartplatz. Forest Hills war seinerzeit ein Synonym für die US Open, so wie es Wimbledon für die englischen Tennismeisterschaften ist. Im Jahr 1978 wurde der Austragungsort der US Open nach Flushing Meadows verlegt.
