Herkunft und Bedeutung

Die Herkunft des Namens ist umstritten, möglicherweise ist er keltischen/bretonischen Ursprungs mit der Bedeutung „kleiner Fels“ oder „gut aussehend, stattlich“ auf Bretonisch; einer anderen Theorie nach bedeutet der Name „aus dem Volk der Alanen“.[1]

Der Name kommt oft in Frankreich, England, den USA und Kanada, aber auch in osteuropäischen Staaten vor.
