Fefe Dobson (* 28. Februar 1985 in Toronto, Ontario als Felicia Lynn Dobson) ist eine kanadische Sängerin.

Leben

Geboren in Toronto, Ontario wuchs Fefe als einziges farbiges Mitglied ihrer Familie auf. Ihr Vater hatte die Familie bereits vor ihrer Geburt verlassen, kehrte später nochmals zurück, um die Familie erneut zu verlassen. In Ihrem Lied Unforgiven setzt sich Dobson mit dieser Problematik auseinander. Die Familie musste wegen der farbigen Tochter bereits früh mit Anfeindungen zurechtkommen. In einem MTV-Interview 2004 beschrieb Fefe, wie ihre Schwester in der Schule wegen der farbigen Fefe Ausgrenzung erfahren hat.

Ihr Interesse für Musik wurde an ihrem 12. Geburtstag geweckt, als sie von ihrer Mutter eine Karaokeanlage geschenkt bekam. Heute sind in ihrer Musik Einflüsse von Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morissette, Ana Johnsson, Macy Gray und Nellie McKay zu erkennen, doch ihre griffigen Gitarren-Sounds zeichnen sie ebenfalls aus.

Ihr selbstbenanntes Debütalbum wurde am 9. Dezember 2003 bei Island Records veröffentlicht. Es erreichte unter den Billboard 200 den 67. Platz. Das Lied Rock It, Till You Drop It spielte sie mit Tone Loc zusammen ein. Die Single Everything erreichte auch die UK-Charts, kam aber über die Position 42 nicht hinaus.

Sunday Love

Ihr zweites Album sollte im November 2005 auf den Markt kommen, später wurde der 7. Februar 2006 als Erscheinungsdatum angegeben, doch soll Sunday Love nun am 6. Juni 2006 in Kanada veröffentlicht werden. Die erste Single Don't Let It Go to Your Head wurde bereits im Juli 2005 in den US-Radiostationen gespielt und das Video dazu wurde im Oktober 2005 ausgestrahlt. Inzwischen ist das Album für den 20. Juni angekündigt. Als erste Single wurde der Song This Is My Life gewählt.
