Fast Moving Consumer Goods

Schnelldrehende Produkte, auch Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Fast Moving Consumer Products oder Renner genannt, sind Warengüter, die schnell im Verkaufsregal wechseln bzw. rotieren.

Darunter fallen Konsumgüter des täglichen Bedarfs, wie Nahrungsmittel, Körperpflegeprodukte, Reinigungsmittel etc., die Konsumenten häufig (z. B. wöchentlich), spontan, in der Regel routiniert und ohne lange zu überlegen einkaufen. Grund dafür ist bei den Gütern des täglichen Bedarfs der relativ niedrige Preis und die relativ einfache Substituierbarkeit der qualitativ häufig gleichwertigen Produkte (im Vergleich z. B. zu Investitionsgütern oder Luxusgütern). Aber auch auf Letztere wird der Begriff angewendet, wenn es sich um Aktionsware handelt (beispielsweise Computer vom Lebensmitteldiscounter oder Kochtöpfe vom Kaffeeröster).

Nach der reinen Lehre (und der Begriffsbedeutung folgend) wird ein Artikel den FMCG anhand der sog. Warenrotationszahl zugeordnet:

Die Warenrotation bezeichnet die Abverkaufsgeschwindigkeit eines Produkts und wird meist in Rotationen pro Jahr, je nach Branche aber auch pro Monat, Woche (Lebensmittelbranche) oder gar Tag (Kiosk) erhoben. Je höher die Warenrotationszahl ist, umso höher ist also entsprechend der Jahres-, Monats- oder Tagesabsatz des Produkts. Der Kennwert ist also kein Selbstzweck für eine eventuelle FMCG-Zuordnung, sondern wichtiger Hinweis für das Bestellwesen. Für diese Kennwert-Ermittlung gibt es jedoch einzelne Warenwirtschaftssysteme, die stattdessen den umgekehrten Weg beschreiten und berechnen, wie hoch die durchschnittliche Verweildauer der einzelnen Produkte im Verkaufsregal ist.

In Anlehnung an den Begriff Schnelldreher haben sich auch die entsprechend definierten Begriffe Langsamdreher bzw. Mitteldreher durchgesetzt.
