Die Familie Fasciolidae gehört mit fünf Gattungen zur Klasse der Trematoden. Sie werden durch Metacercarien auf der Oberfläche besonders von Wasser- und Sumpfpflanzen übertragen. Zwischenwirte sind Schnecken (bes.Lymnaeidae).
