Air Bäron

„Air Bäron“ ist ein legendäres Transparent, das seit 1995 unter anderem bei fast allen Spielen der deutschen Fußballnationalmannschaft im Stadion zu sehen ist.

Das 4,50 Meter breite und 80 Zentimeter hohe Banner zeigt den Schriftzug AIR BÄRON in weißen Großbuchstaben auf schwarz-rot-goldenem Grund. Es bezieht sich auf Karsten Bäron, der von 1992 bis 2000 als Stürmer für den Hamburger SV und zeitweise auch für die deutsche U21-Nationalmannschaft aktiv war. Der Spitzname ist angelehnt an den des US-Basketballers Michael „Air“ Jordan.[1]

Schöpfer und Eigentümer des Transparents ist der Fußballfan Frank Niemann, ein Postbote aus Westbevern. Auch nach dem Ende von Bärons aktiver Karriere im Jahr 2000 reist Niemann weiterhin zu deutschen Länderspielen auf der ganzen Welt, um das längst zum Kult gewordene Banner an den Zäunen der Fankurven aufzuhängen. Das berühmte Transparent war bis jetzt (Stand: Ende 2008) bei über 130 Länderspielen in 53 Ländern zu sehen, darunter bei allen Welt- und Europameisterschaften.[1]

Nach Aussage von Karsten Bäron verbindet ihn und Frank Niemann inzwischen eine Freundschaft.[2]
