Das Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN) ist das größte niederländische Forschungszentrum für erneuerbare Energien. Mit ungefähr 600 Mitarbeitern (Januar 2011) hat es seinen Sitz im nordholländischen Petten.

Das ECN arbeitet in acht Forschungsbereichen:


300 Mitarbeiter sind in der Nuclear Research and consultancy Group (NRG) beschäftigt, einem joint venture von ECN und KEMA. Zusammen mit dem Joint Research Centre (Dutch: Gemeenschappelijk Centrum voor Onderzoek (GCO)) der Europäischen Kommission und Mallinkrodt (einem Tochterunternehmen von Tyco Healthcare), haben sie ihre Büros in den Dünen von Petten.
