Brian Aherne

Brian Aherne (* 2. Mai 1902 in King's Norton, Worcestershire, England; † 10. Februar 1986 in Venice, Florida; eigentlich William Brian de Lacy Aherne) war ein britischer Schauspieler.

Sein Debüt als Schauspieler gab er 1924 mit dem Film The Eleventh Commandment. Es folgten zahlreiche Kinoproduktionen, mit Beginn der 1950er Jahre war er auch immer öfter im Fernsehen zu sehen. Das letzte Mal als Schauspieler trat er 1967 mit dem Film Rosie! in Erscheinung.

Für seine Rolle als Kaiser Maximilian von Habsburg in dem Spielfilm Juarez (1939) wurde Aherne 1940 für einen Oscar als bester Nebendarsteller nominiert.

Auf dem Hollywood Walk of Fame erinnert ein Stern an ihn.

Er war zwei Mal verheiratet. Seine erste Ehe mit der Schauspielerin Joan Fontaine dauert von 1939 bis 1945 und wurde geschieden. Seine zweite Ehefrau heiratete er 1946, die Ehe hielt bis zu seinem Tod.
