Credit Enhancement

Credit Enhancement ist ein wesentlicher Bestandteil einer Verbriefungstransaktion und wird meist von Ratingagenturen ermittelt, um das Rating eines forderungsbesicherten Wertpapiers zu ermitteln. Es gibt unterschiedliche Arten von Credit Enhancements. Generell wird zwischen strukturbedingtem Credit Enhancement und externem Credit Enhancement unterschieden.

Strukturbedingtes Credit Enhancement

Excess Spread

Der Excess Spread ist die Differenz zwischen den auf den zugrunde liegenden Sicherheiten erhaltenen Zinszahlungen und dem Coupon der begebenen forderungsbesicherten Wertpapiere. Der Excess Spread ist in der Regel eine Erst-Verlust-Tranche.

Overcollateralization

Overcollateralization ist eine Art der Übersicherung (Zivilrecht) und eine gängige Form des Credit Enhancements. Overcollateralization bedeutet, dass die Sicherheit (Grundschuld, Hypothek, Hinterlegung, Sicherungsabtretung etc.) und deren Zahlungsströme höher sind als die begebenen Wertpapiere (und gegebenenfalls deren Couponzahlungen und anderen Transaktionskosten).

Reservekonto

Ein Reservekonto (oder Spread Account), also die Absicherung von Verlusten bis zu einem gewissen Betrag, wird meist auch als Overcollateralization verwendet. Der Absicherungsbetrag des Reservekonto kann dabei während der Transaktion erst einbezahlt werden, aber auch proportional zur Rücknahme der Wertpapiere reduziert werden.

Externes Credit Enhancement

Wrapped Securities

Wrapped Securities sind forderungsbesicherte Wertpapiere, die zusätzlich noch von einer Versicherung (Monoline Insurer) bezüglich Kreditrisiko abgesichert werden.

Cash Collateral Account

Mit einem Cash Collateral Account (CCA) kann ebenfalls Credit Enhancement erreicht werden. Dabei kann der Garantiegeber einen gewissen Betrag bei einer Bank leihen und investiert diesen in kurzfristige Geldmarktinstrumente mit der höchsten verfügbaren Bonität.
