Cousin Island zählt mit einer Gesamtgröße von etwa 27 Hektar (0,27 km²) zu den eher kleinen Inseln der 115 Seychellen-Inseln. Sie befindet sich ungefähr 4 km südwestlich von Praslin, der zweitgrößten Insel des Archipels, sowie etwa 2 km nordwestlich der benachbarten Insel Cousine. Cousin Island ist ein bedeutendes Rückzugsgebiet für seltene einheimische Tier- und Pflanzenarten. Neben der Seychellen-Riesenschildkröte kommen zahlreiche Geckos vor, zudem ist sie das einzige Brutgebiet der Echten Karettschildkröte im westlichen Indischen Ozean. Neben seltenen Landvogelarten wie dem Seychellen-Rohrsänger oder dem Seychellendajal kommen auch sieben Arten an Seevögeln mit über 300.000 Exemplaren auf Cousin Island vor. Der Einklang mit der Tier- und Pflanzenwelt steht hier im Vordergrund und dem Schutz von Natur und Umwelt wird ganz besonders sorgsame Beachtung geschenkt, deshalb ist Cousin Island ein beliebtes Ziel für Ökotouristen.
