Clarke Abel (* 5. September 1789 in Bungay, Suffolk, England; † 24. November 1826 in Cawnpore, Indien) war ein britischer Arzt, Naturforscher und Botaniker. Sein offizielles botanisches Autorenkürzel lautet „Abel“.

Clarke Abel ist bekannt für die Veröffentlichung des Buches Narrative of a Journey into the interior of China, and of a voyage to and from this country (London 1818), das er auf einer Reise mit William Pitt Amherst, Earl of Arracan (1773–1857) nach Peking schrieb.

Ehrentaxon

Der britische Botaniker Robert Brown hat die Pflanzengattung Abelia aus der Familie Linnaeaceae in der Ordnung der Kardenartigen (Dipsacales) ihm zu Ehren benannt.
