World Mayor

World Mayor ist eine Auszeichnung, die seit 2004 von The City Mayors Foundation verliehen. Dieser Preis soll das Ansehen der Bürgermeister weltweit erhöhen und diejenigen honorieren, welche sich gut um ihre Gemeinden gekümmert haben. Der Veranstalter macht deutlich, dass diese Auszeichnung keine Verbindung zu irgendeiner Stadt oder Organisation hat und strikt eine unkommerzielle Linie fährt. Helen Zille und Leopoldo Lopez diskutierten ihre Nominierung 2008 in der Sendung „Outlook“ auf dem Sender BBC. [1] Seit 2006 wird der Preis alle zwei Jahre vergeben.
