The Descendants ist eine Verfilmung aus dem Jahr 2011 des Romans Mit deinen Augen von Kaui Hart Hemming.[1] Die Hauptrolle des Dramas wird von George Clooney gespielt, Regie führt Alexander Payne.[2] Die Produktionsfirma ist Ad Hominem Enterprises, die Verleihfirmen sind in den USA Fox Searchlight Pictures und Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp.[3] Die Filmpremiere war am 10. September 2011 beim Toronto International Film Festival[4][5]

Handlung

Der Großgrundbesitzer Matt King führt eine desinteressierte Beziehung zu seinen beiden Töchtern. Erst nachdem seine Frau vor Waikiki einen Bootsunfall erleidet, versucht er wieder mit ihnen in Kontakt zu treten. Durch die Ereignisse kommen Matt und seine Töchter sich näher, während er vor der Entscheidung steht, den Grundbesitz der Familie zu verkaufen. Im Verlauf der Handlung muss Matt lernen, mit einer sich entwickelnden schizophrenischer Erkrankung auseinanderzusetzen.[6]

Produktion

Die Dreharbeiten auf Hawaii begannen am 15. März 2010.[7] Drehorte waren Honolulu und Kauaʻi auf Hawaii.[8] Die Postproduktion begann am 14. Juni 2010.[9]
