Steve Aoki (* 30. November 1977 in Miami, USA) ist ein amerikanischer Electro-House-DJ und Musikproduzent.

Leben

Steve Aoki wurde in Miami geboren und wuchs in Newport Beach, Kalifornien auf. Er ist das dritte von Fünf Kindern des Ringers Rocky Aoki und Chizuru Kobayashi. Er hat noch drei jüngere Halbgeschwister, darunter das Model Devon Aoki.

Bereits in seiner Zeit an der University of California, Santa Barbara gründete er sein eigenes Plattenlabel: DIM MAK Records (nach Dim Mak, einem Begriff der chinesischen Kampfkunst). Das Label veröffentlicht seine Musik und andere Electro-House Künstler wie MSTRKRFT, Klaxons oder The Bloody Beetroots, während Aoki weltweit als DJ unterwegs ist. 2006 kam die DIM MAK Collection als Modelabel hinzu. Aokis Debütalbum Pillowface and His Airplane Chronicles erschien im Januar 2008.

Steve Aoki remixte viele Musiker und Bands, darunter Drake, Lenny Kravitz, Bloc Party, Snoop Dogg, Peaches, Kid Cudi oder Robin Thicke.
