Rothes (gälisch: Ràthais[1]) ist eine Stadt in der schottischen Region Moray. Sie liegt etwa 60 km östlich von Inverness und 70 km nordwestlich von Aberdeen am Nordufer des Flusses Spey. Rothes wurde 1766 am Ort einer älteren Siedlung gegründet.[2] Im Jahre 2001 verzeichnete Rothes 1156 Einwohner[3]. Südlich ist die aus dem 13. Jahrhundert stammende Ruine von Rothes Castle gelegen.[4]

Rothes liegt in der bedeutenden Whiskyregion Speyside. In Rothes befinden sich die aktiven Whiskybrennereien Speyburn[5], Glen Grant[6], Glenrothes[7] und Glen Spey[8] sowie die derzeit geschlossene Brennerei Caperdonich[9].
