Rocky Boy’s Reservation

Die Rocky Boy’s Reservation[1] ist ein Indianerreservat der Anishinabe- und Cree-Indianer im US-Bundesstaat Montana. Es ist das kleinste Reservat in Montana, wurde 1916 gegründet und befindet sich im Hill County im nördlichen Montana, etwa 60 Kilometer von der kanadischen Grenze entfernt. Rund 2500 Personen wohnen hier.

Der Name des Reservats stammt aus einer falschen Übersetzung des Namens eines Stammesführers, dessen Name eher mit Stone Child (Steinkind) zu übersetzen wäre.

Das Rocky-Boys-Reservat wird vom Chippewa-Cree Business Committee regiert, dem derzeit John „Chance“ Houle vorsitzt.

2005 entstand ein Plan, wonach am Highway 87 ein Indianerkasino mit dem Namen „North Winz“ errichtet werden soll. Die Arbeitslosigkeit in der Reservation lag 2005 bei 68%.
