Palmer Drought Index

Der Palmer Drought Index, auch Palmer Drought Severity Index (PDSI) ist der am weitesten verbreitete Index für Trockenphasen, welcher in 11 Klassifikationen eingeteilt ist und von vielen US-Regierungsinstitutionen genutzt wird[1]. Der PDSI, der schon Mitte der 1960er-Jahre entwickelt wurde, ist mittlerweile mehrfach weiterentwickelt und modifiziert worden und wird nun neben anderen Indizes wie dem Standard Precipitation Index (SPI) oder dem Reclamation Drought Index (RDI)[2] genutzt bzw. von diesen ergänzt[3]
